Past, Present and Future
Ridglea Presbyterian Church began in 1942 with the support of the Presbytery’s Home Missions Committee. We held our first service on August 16, 1942, in a community center. In January 1943, we rented a room in the Ridglea Shopping Center. On a joyous Easter Sunday, April 25, 1943, we officially became a chartered congregation!
From those early beginnings, Ridglea Presbyterian Church has grown to its present size of 570 members meeting in a beautiful three-story facility containing two worship areas—the Chapel where 8:30 a.m.worship takes place, and the Sanctuary where 11:00 a.m. worship takes place.
We Believe ...
Presbyterians trace their history to the 16th century and the Protestant Reformation. Our heritage, and much of what we believe, began with the French lawyer John Calvin (1509-1564), whose writings crystallized much of the Reformed thinking that came before him. Some of the principles articulated by John Calvin remain at the core of Presbyterian beliefs. Among these are the sovereignty of God, the authority of the scripture, justification by grace through faith and the priesthood of all believers. What they mean is that God is the supreme authority throughout the universe. Our knowledge of God and God's purpose for humanity comes from the Bible, particularly what is revealed in the New Testament through the life of Jesus Christ. Our salvation (justification) through Jesus is God's generous gift to us and not the result of our own accomplishments. It is everyone's job - ministers and lay people alike - to share this Good News with the whole world. That is also why the Presbyterian church is governed at all levels by a combination of clergy and laity, men and women alike. Learn more ...
The church is built around a central courtyard. Children’s classrooms are on the first and second floors in the northern wing. Adult classrooms are on the first and second floors in the western wing. The youth meet in newly remodeled rooms in the basement. Restrooms are located on each floor. An elevator, located near the northwest corner of the education building, provides access to all floors. If you need to park close to the building, there are reserved spaces in the small parking lot off Camp Bowie Boulevard.
You are invited to join us for coffee, tea, juice, and visiting from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. in the lobby outside the Chapel. This time for “meeting and greeting” takes place each Sunday. We encourage you to participate in the discipleship, ministry, and mission of Ridglea Presbyterian Church.
The church is graced with beautiful stained glass windows in our sanctuary, chapel and the bell tower. See photos of some of these windows HERE.

Our governing body is the RPC Session, composed of men and women who have been ordained as Elders to serve as spiritual leaders of our congregation. We also ordain men and women to the Board of Deacons. The Deacons are charged with pastoral care, encouraging the building of relationships between members of the RPC family and guests, and tending to the needs of those who are ill, grieving, or otherwise in need of God's healing touch.
Within the Presbyterian Church (USA), Ridglea Presbyterian Church is a member of Grace Presbytery, which encompasses the northern and eastern parts of Texas, and the Synod of the Sun, which encompasses Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana.
