Finding the Third Way
Almost every Sunday, I charge you at the end of worship with words from Paul’s letter to the Romans. Go out into this world and have courage. Hold onto what is good. Support the weak. Help the suffering. Strengthen the fainthearted. Return no one evil for evil. Honor all people.
But how can we go out into this world and have courage if we can’t find courage to talk to one another in here? How can we hold onto what is good out there if we can’t do it in here? How can we honor all people if we can’t honor the people we share a pew for an hour with on a Sunday morning?
